Regional religious policy of the Bolsheviks in 1920-1924 (using the example of the Kuban-Black Sea region)

In the presented study, the author attempts to examine the content of regional religious policy in the Kuban-Black Sea region in the period from 1920 to 1924. The policy of the Bolsheviks towards the Russian Orthodox Church was formulated in the works of party leaders and program documents, and later it was reflected in the first decrees of the Soviet government. The Bolsheviks' priority task was to eliminate the church as the guardian of the spiritual and cultural heritage, which contradicted their ideological principles. It is established that the regional policy in the Cossack region had no fundamental differences from the all-Russian ones, which consisted in the period 1920-1924 in the growth of repressive measures of the RCP(b) against the Russian Orthodox Church. The slight weakening of anti-religious policy in 1924 did not mean that the Bolsheviks abandoned their principles in opposition to the Russian Orthodox Church. The author of the article uses materials from the central and regional archives, which contain information about the nature of the religious policy of the Bolsheviks. Collections of documents that clarify the context of the study are involved.
